About Us

You and your whānau might know us by our previous name - Horowhenua Learning Centre (HLC) and Life to the Max. Te Puna Whai Mātauranga represents our evolution as we come together as one organisation. We support people holistically through social services, education, workplace training, and employment.

Our name, Te Puna Whai Mātauranga, means “a special place, the spring where knowledge, insight, learning, and wisdom can be accessed and transformation is possible.” It was gifted to us by Muaūpoko. It reflects our kaupapa and the impact of our mahi with rangatahi and whānau. The koru in our logo represents the different groups of people coming together within our organisation, as well as the diverse services we offer. The overarching form reflects the shape of a puna (spring), symbolising the mātauranga (knowledge) that flows from this space.

Your goals, your future - Te Puna Whai Mātauranga is here to create opportunities for you. We're proud to have a campus in Taitoko Levin, and offices in Palmerston North, Kāpiti, and Wairarapa.

We work with people who want to learn new skills, get ready for a job or seek further training. We can also support you with your health, wellbeing, and finances. Whether you’re starting a new journey or building on your existing skills, your future matters to us. We teach skills in and outside of the classroom, and offer a full-circle support network.

We are fully qualified as a NZQA-accredited private training establishment (PTE).
